Q. What is the difference between the law of attraction and the law of love?
A. The law of attraction is based on the intensive nature of magnetism, which in science is called the law of action and reaction. In spiritual science it is known as cause and effect; Jesus referred to it as sowing and reaping. This law of attraction therefore signifies that according to the thought and feeling will be the result. Thought in this case means imagining; feeling would include the whole range of emotions. Therefore, if I harbor ill will toward another or toward any aspect of life, by the law of attraction my ill will can only attract that which is of the same nature, consciousness, or quality.
For example, one who fears being harmed vibrates in a way that triggers someone who delights in causing harm to be drawn into the experience of the one who fears being harmed. When this occurs, the one who commits harm is seen as the victimizer and the one to whom harm is done is seen as the victim.
According to the law of love, there is this major shift. It too operates under the law of attraction. A loving heart always attracts the blessings of the Beloved who resides in the hearts of the devotee. The Beloved chooses the vehicle or instruments, circumstances, and means for the response to the loving heart. Often it occurs that when one experiences love, it is both cause and effect of other experiences of love, whereas when one experiences misery, this occurs when one continues to dwell on misery. The law of attraction is impersonal; the law of love is universal.
And to each it is done according to his thoughts and feelings and not by anyone else or anything external to the one who projects thought or feeling or dwells on them.
Suppose therefore one is projecting negative feelings, such as fear or hatred. Then one only need ask himself, "Am I or another the cause of what I am feeling?" Your answer determines how you approach each moment of life.
If you believe another is the cause of what you are feeling, then how to you explain the fact that feeling preexisted any interaction with another?
If you get upset, claiming another is causing you to get upset, how can this be true when you consider that for another to upset you, there must be a corresponding emotion within you that is upsettable or anger-generating or -producing.
It takes a willingness to be introspective to make this discovery about the content of one’s mind.
What a blessing when we grasp the law of attraction and the law of love to know at any moment we can change any belief or pattern that does not benefit us, that is, thatis not in harmony with our nature, by choosing to vibrate with the nature and quality of pure love—love that is free from any kind of judgment or blame or criticism.
Put it to the test to prove to yourself the consistency and action of the law of attraction and the law of love.
